HOW TO CREATE A CALM AND RELAXING BEDROOM

Your bedroom is a key area to relax in the house, and so this space needs to be designed correctly to ensure you feel peaceful and relaxed. Here are 5 TIPS Rachel from Rachel Battais Interiors would use when designing bedrooms for our clients:

TIP 1 - COLOUR PALETTE

If you are after a calm bedroom then opt for neutral tones such as light creams or soft greys. You can always incorporate slightly bolder colors in items that can be easily changeable such as scatter cushions or throws. For this bedroom, we used blush pink and burgundy as accent tones.

Freshen up the walls: repainting your bedroom or even repainting a feature wall can make a difference in your space. If you do not know where to start order a colour card from Little Greene https://www.littlegreene.com/colour-card or Farrow and Ball https://www.farrow-ball.com/colour-cards/free-colour-card-uk-eu

For this bedroom, we actually voted to go for a soft cream vinyl wallpaper by Phillip Jefferies!

Here is the fabric scheme for our Oxfordshire bedroom designed by our team Rachel Battais Interiors ltd

Incredible material and fabric brands were used for the scheme:

Chase erwin fabrics

Lizzo fabrics

Phillip jefferies wallpaper

Sylka carpet

Pierre Frey fabrics

Romo fabrics

TIP 2 - CREATE DIFFERENT ZONES

“Zoning”your space before ordering or designing your bedroom can help you organise your bedroom and ensuring a natural flow from one area to the next. So ask yourself some questions about what you need in this space:

Do you need a desk area? or a walking wardrobe? Perhaps an area for your books so in that case you may need a nook for reading. Do you do your makeup in the bedroom or bathroom?

This Dressing table was design by our team for the client’s needs she needed an area to do her make up so we designed carefully this piece. The drawers are lined in faux leather and the top of the table has an inset glass so it is easy to clean.

TIP 3 - TIDY SPACE

Get rid of clutter! A tidy space = a tidy mind. Try to stick to fewer decorative pieces and invest in cleaner storage solutions to hide away clutter. A fitted wardrobe is a great solution as it gives more space than free-standing pieces. Bedside tables with deep drawers or bed bases with storage solutions to hide away items that may not be required every day.

Walking Wardrobe

For the Oxfordshire bedroom, we worked closely with Clive Christian team to design a walking wardrobe. Here is a snap shot of the wardrobe, sadly we cannot share more to protect the client’s privacy

TIP 4 - INCORPORATE SOFT ELEMENTS & TEXTURES

Get something soft! it can be a faux fur throw, or some boucle cushions

Bedding can make a huge difference to your sleep but also impact the feel of a room, so make sure you get it right. Our top picks:

The White Company Bedding

Sirimiri Bedding

De Le Cuona Bedding

TIP 5 - CORRECT LIGHTING

Creating ambiance in your space with indirect light will give a relaxing feel. Table lamps, floor or wall lights with shades are perfect examples.

Light your favorite candles, they are great for stressfull times because they can remind us of our favorite memories or places.

Change your light bulbs to warm white 2700k led light bulbs. Use accent lights such as table lamps, floor lamps or wall lights using shades to diffuse the lights in the space.
