How to design a kids room that will stand the test of time
When creating a child's bedroom, it is important to consider longevity for the space. Children often change their interests quickly, going from dinosaurs to lego to football in a matter of moments. It is impossible to constantly redesign their bedroom to keep up with their changing preferences.
Here are a few tips on designing a child's bedroom that will stand the test of time and evolve with them as they grow.
1 | Adjustable kids furniture
2 | Plenty of storage
3 | Avoid themed rooms
4 | Styling and Accessories
1 | Adjustable Kid Furniture
Kids bedroom furniture can be costly therefore, adjustable furniture is a brilliant option to explore for longevity. For example this cot bed from Oliver furniture can be adjusted to a Junior bed or even a bunk bed by removing and adding parts.
If you're looking at the built-in option, discuss it with your carpenter to see if there are any clever ways to adjust the built-in furniture to make it more future proof.

2 | Plenty of storage
When creating kid bedrooms, one of the key factors we focus on is storage, given the abundance of toys and belongings children tend to accumulate.
Bespoke Wardrobe with toy baskets at the bottom could be a playful way to achieve this.
Alternatively opting for furniture pieces with ample storage capacity ensures longevity and functionality as children grow such as chest of drawers or bookshelves. Maximizing vertical space, such as with tall shelving units and wall shelves, is a smart strategy for making the most of the often limited space in children's bedrooms.

3 | Avoid themed rooms
We believe that a child's bedroom should be vibrant and lively, but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to use bold paint colors on the walls.
By opting for a neutral base, you can add color through soft furnishings and decorative items, which can easily be switched out as your child grows.
Investing in solid wood furniture allows you to upcycle and repaint it over the years, offering a sustainable and creative way to reuse and repurpose. Experiment with painting the furniture in bold colors and adding funky handles for a fun and personalized touch.
4 | Styling and accessories
Be playfull with accessories, be creative with the smaller elements in your child's bedroom that can easily be changed in the future. Consider adding unique artwork, lighting, rug, cushions or bedding that reflect your child's personality and tie the room together.
For soft furnishings like bedspreads or scatter cushions or even curtains and blinds, select a colorful and playfull design so it can be used for years as you update the room.
